Aside from the Tucker, which in the end only used parts of his original design, you’ve never seen a George Lawson-designed vehicle come to fruition. Lawson imagined vehicles so space-agey and futuristic that he was actually kicked out of the Buick design studio when working for GM’s Art and Colour. But Lawson influenced the auto design field in a myriad of minor ways, and designers as high profile as Bill Mitchell and Alex Tremulis admired Lawson. For SIA #44, March-April 1978, Michael Lamm take a look at this visionary artist and designer.
