Infiniti Essence: Retro Hybrid

Some car designs are destined to be a classic and others are more classic than others. Take for instance the Infiniti Essence concept. The car’s lines are reminiscent of the old Fairlady Z, with the long hood and short rear deck. This however isn’t your neighbor’s go-fast car. It has a 3.7 liter V6 giving out 434 horsepower plus a 158 horsepower electric motor for a combined total of 592 horses. The electric motor won’t be this car’s Achilles heel as Infiniti states that they have a redesigned the motor’s architecture to give out more torques. Two motors plus a custom-designed Louis Vuitton luggage? The combination of power with luxury and this Essence makes absolute sense.

Koenigsegg Quant: Harness The Sun

The Swedish manufacturer Koenigsegg unveils the Quant at the Geneva Motor Show, a solar-electric supercar that will be in production sometime soon. Forget about your carbon footprint when this car goes out since it won’t have your traditional internal combustion engine. Instead, two electric motors with 512 brake horsepower pumping out 715 Nm of torque powers the car to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds. That’s lightning-quick, considering the car has four seats, ABS, onboard entertainment, and six “smart” airbags. Long-range, deep-cycle batteries will be providing the juice for this supercar and charging them will take just 20 minutes. The car’s also covered with photovoltaic coating, another term for solar charger, to maximize your enjoyment especially when the sun’s out. If this is the future of supercars, then we won’t have to worry. $TBA.
